A wall full
of originals,
one very busy
retirement.
I'm Ian, though most folk call me Waddy. I paint wildlife, music legends and the odd canal boat, mostly at the kitchen table, mostly when I should be fishing.
"If you like it, just ask. I don't bite."
The studio wall
Acrylics and pastels
Paint on canvas and board, pan pastels and pastel pencils, and modelling paste when a piece wants some texture. Whatever suits the subject.
One-offs, never prints
Every piece here is the only one there is. When it's gone it's gone, and I've usually moved on to the next thing anyway.
Always experimenting
Modelling paste for texture, spray under acrylic, geometry when I fancy a change. Half the fun is not knowing how it'll turn out.
Self-taught, Preston born,
happiest by the water
I never went near an art school. I picked up a brush properly when I retired and I've barely put it down since.
When I'm not painting you'll find me on the bank with a rod. A lot of the landscapes come from those mornings: the light on the canal, the mist over the docks, that sort of thing.
